Turk Telekom Group is working aggresively to take part in EU R&D projects through extending its network and enhancing its EU experience. Turk Telekom has created a technological and innovative eco-system with its ISP (TTNet), mobile operators (TTNet Mobile & Avea), IPTV and new media provider (Argela), software developer and systems integrator (Innova) educational content provider (Sebit), wholesale data and fiber optic provider (Pantel), game development company (Sobee). Turk Telekom has participated in several projects in FP7 and EUREKA projects while making active contribution in workgroups under associated organizations:

ETNO (European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association),is the principal policy group for European electronic communications network operators intending to establish a constructive dialogue between its member companies and decision-makers and other actors involved in the development of the European Information Society. Turk Telekom has been the full member participating in the projects with the major telecom operators in Europe including Deutsche Telekom, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Orange and TeliaSonera. Turk Telekom has also involved in projects in R&D Working Group within the ETNO organization
EURESCOM (European Institute for Research and Strategic Studies in Telecommunications),is one of the leading organizations for managing collaborative R&D in telecommunications in Europe offering 19 years of experience in managing large-scale, international R&D for major industry players, the European Commission, and EUREKA Cluster CELTIC. It provides combination of a secure, reliable infrastructure for collaborative work, a large European network of experts, and internationally outstanding project management skills. Turk Telekom is the member of EURESCOM with 15 major European telecom operators including Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, BT, Telecom Italia.
EUROGIA (Eureka Cluster for Low-Carbon Energy Technologies), is an international forum, which is part of the Eureka cluster, promoting technology development and innovative application through collaborative projects to provide the world clean, safe, available and affordable energy. EUROGIA+ is to address all innovative energy technologies that will reduce the carbon footprint of energy production and use, facilitate the migration to the hydrogen economy, develop new technologies for energy such as solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, energy efficiency, etc. Turk Telekom is the board member of EUROGIA since May 2011.
European Technology Platforms (ETPs), aim to bring all parties (privaSte sector, public-regulator institutions, researchers, financiers, users) interested in technology area that has been chosen with the leadership of industry, together to establish a common technological vision. There are 36 ETPs in various technological areas. Turk Telekom is the member, active supporter and contributer of 3 ETPs (Net!Works, NEM, NESSI).
The NEM Initiative aims at building sustainable European leadership in content production and networking technologies. Its objective is to promote an innovative European approach to the convergence of media and telecommunications towards a Future Media Internet that will enhance the lives of European citizens through a richer media experience. Turk Telekom was the sponsor of two NEM Summits (Barcelona 2010, Torino 2011) as gold sponsor and is the Steering Board Member of NEM since September 2011. 
The Net!Works platform stands for bringing together European organizations to address, as a community, the challenges of future networks, building on Europe's success in mobile communications. The platform supports action and efficient collaboration, enabling the network community to turn visions into innovations. 
NESSI is the European Technology Platform dedicated to Software and Services and established to address the major changes that are driving the IT services marketplace. 
ICT research under the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) is founded to support the projects which will help improve the competitiveness of European industry. Driven by European Commission, this programme aims to enable Europe to master and shape the future developments of these technologies so that the demands of its society and economy are met. Turk Telekom has been active in FP7 participating in following 3 projects:
Definition: ROMEO is built to enhance the distribution of live and collaborative immersive media. focusing on new methods for the compression and delivery of multi-view 3D video and spatial audio.
EUREKA is the European R&D support umbrella which promotes international, market-oriented research and innovation through the support, offering to small and medium-sized enterprises, large industry, universities and research institutes. EUREKA has several clusters divided to support different technology areas. Turk Telekom Group has been in various projects in CELTIC (Telecommunication) and ITEA2 (Software-Intensive Systems) clusters.
Celtic is the EUREKA ICT cluster which supports industry-driven European research initiative to define, perform and finance through public and private funding common research projects in the area of telecommunications, new media, future Internet, and applications & services focusing on a new "Smart Connected World" paradigm. Turk Telekom Group performance in Celtic activities can be summarized with the following information:
Definition:4GBB project aims to develop the technology for offering cost-effective solutions for fiber to the home which will be alternative to full-fiber solution. 
Definition:The target of MEVICO project is to develop new network concepts for meeting the future requirements of the evolving radio technologies and usage of the Internet for the future LTE & LTE Advanced networks.
Definition:HIPERMED project aims too develop an open source telemedicine platform based on SoA architecture.
ITEA2 (Information Technology for European Advancement) is one of the main Eureka cluster s stimulating and supporting innovative and pre-competitive R&D projects that will contribute research excellence to Europe’s competitive Software-Intensive Systems and Services sector. ITEA 2 and its predecessor ITEA have a proven track record with major achievements automotive, aerospace, communications, health care and consumer electronics sectors. Below are the ITEA2 projects Turk Telekom Group has participated so far.
Definition:A2NETS’ ambition is to develop a smart platform for the M2M 
Definition:General goal of the project is to develop a mediator between the vast amount of sensor data in the user's context (body or environment oriented) and the plurality of applications (health and well-being oriented) to support the user in his daily life.
Definition:The IMPONET project is scoped to provide essential cornerstones in order to achieve a comprehensive, flexible and configurable information system to support the most complex and advanced requirements in Energy Management.
