The future has arrived very fast with Türk Telekom!

Turkey’s telecommunication leader Türk Telekom introduces the video-communication technology, Videophone, to the market as from 31 May 2008. Together with a 2-year contract with Türk Telekom, video-call era starts with only 29 YTL monthly. Within the context of launching campaign, Türk Telekom also presents the Videophone device for free.

Turkey’s telecommunication leader Türk Telekom introduces the Videophone, which provides the opportunity to make video-calls from the fixed lines such as home and work telephones, to the market as from 31 May 2008. Besides the free Videophone device it presents for the first 100.000 customers which apply to benefit from the Videophone service, Türk Telekom provides the opportunity to make 3.000 minutes of video-calls per month for 24 months for only 29 YTL monthly – all taxes included.

The Videophone service is presented to the customers as a result of the optimization and adaptation operations in the infrastructure which have been conducted by the Türk Telekom engineers for 18 months, and of the R&D operations that the company and the Argela engineers have been conducting in cooperation. Providing the opportunity to make video-calls, the Videophone service will be able to be used in the pay telephones supporting multi-media features, besides the home and work telephones.

Many things are possible with Videophone!

Türk Telekom customers will be able to benefit from various services provided by Videophone. The customers will be able to surf through the internet, send e-mails and messages, and take photographs during a call by using Videophone. Moreover, the customers will be able to stop sending their own images to the other party whenever they want during the call.

The customers starting to use Videophone will not need to have a new telephone number, for the existing home or work telephone numbers will be available. Also, by the SIM card reading feature of the device, the users will be able to copy the phone numbers in their mobile phones to the device.

A new communication channel

Türk Telekom Head of Operations, Celalettin Dinçer, explained that the Videophone service was the product of the infrastructure operations which had been conducted by Türk Telekom for more than sixteen months and of the R&D operations conducted together with Argela, and continued, “As Türk Telekom, we are realizing very important investments and operations for the development of the Turkish technology and innovation, which is one of our main targets. And one of our projects, the Videophone service is a very important product of Turkish innovation. The software developed by Argela, one of our Group companies, has played a key role in putting this product into service. By means of the improvements that will be done for the product, soon it will be possible to watch TV or to benefit from various value-added phone services via Videophone. Our Videophone service is a very important indicator of how the technology and innovation in our country have improved and reached the world standards.”

Türk Telekom Head of Marketing and Communications, Erem Demircan said, “By means of our Videophone service, family members living far from each other, soldiers and everyone will be able to make video-calls with their friends and families. All work places will also be able to benefit from our service, which can easily be used by everyone, for their meetings and miscellaneous conferences.
