Türk Telekom Mobile Removes Borders Between Germany and Turkey

Türk Telekom enters the German mobile market with Telefónica cooperation

Turkey’s most valuable brand Türk Telekom has engaged in yet another international cooperation. The major cooperation between the Türk Telekom Group and Telefónica Germany heralds the entry of Türk Telekom into the European mobile communication sector with the Türk Telekom Mobile brand. Türk Telekom Mobile customers have the opportunity to make unlimited calls in both Germany and Turkey for very affordable prices on a single SIM card. Also with O2’s network in Germany and Avea’s network in Turkey, Türk Telekom Mobile provide the customers with value-added services

The cooperation between Turkey’s leading communication and convergence technologies company Türk Telekom and Germany’s foremost company Telefónica Germany brought to life the brand Türk Telekom Mobile. From 2 August on, mobile voice, data and added-value services become available in the German market under Türk Telekom Mobile brand. Türk Telekom Mobile service is provided though Türk Telekomünikasyon Euro GmbH company owned %100 by Türk Telekom.

Realized by the Türk Telekom Group in line with its convergence vision, Türk Telekom Mobile service will be put on offer also in other European countries after Germany with sizeable Turkish populations.

Türk Telekom Mobile’s customers will be able to talk over the telephone for affordable prices and benefit from Internet services between Germany and Turkey without being subjected to international roaming and other international connection fees. Türk Telekom Mobile removes the borders in communication; enabling customers in Germany speak with their mobile phones on very advantageous rates both to Germany and Turkey while in Germany. Likewise, they will be able to make calls from Turkey to Germany for the most affordable prices on a single SIM card and to watch exclusive videos from the Spor Toto Super League and Bank Asya First Division games.

Cooperation as an extension of Türk Telekom’s global brand identity

At the press conference held inO2 Tower at Munih, to announce the cooperation, Germany, Türk Telekom Group CEO Hakam Kanafani, Türk Telekom CEO K. Gökhan Bozkurt and Telefónica Germany CEO René Schuster gave detailed information on the issue.

Emphasizing Türk Telekom Group’s position as a regional brand, Türk Telekom Group CEO Hakam Kanafani said that this strategic cooperation with Telefónica Germany is part of Türk Telekom Group's continuing 'smart expansion' strategy. Noting that Turk Telekom Mobile is the second project launched in Germany with Telefónica after the introduction of Alice Dünyam in 2010, Mr. Kanafani continued: “We take great pleasure in deepening our cooperation with one of the leading telecommunication companies in the world, and look forward to drawing on each other’s experience in various strategic areas. We are always impressed with the German's Telco market and we are eager to showcase part of our Turkish ingenuity and creative services."

The Turk that helps the world talk removes the borders

Türk Telekom CEO K. Gökhan Bozkurt also expressed their happiness from providing their customers in Germany with value-added products and services under most advantageous terms. Bozkurt added:

“We carried our services beyond the borders of Turkey in line with our goal of becoming the Turk that helps the world talks. Within this scope, we shall bring our innovative products and advantageous services to our customers in Germany in cooperation with Telefónica Germany, in a sense, removing borders between the two countries in communication. We shall provide our millions of customers in Germany and Turkey with packages designed to accommodate their interests, helping many individuals and companies travelling to and engaged in a business relationship with Turkey take advantage of affordable rates. The cooperation between Avea and O2, which includes a common network utilization, shall also play a great role in our ability to provide our customers with added-value services.”

In his address, Telefónica Germany CEO René Schuster also said “Our strong partnership results in a strong joint offering. It’s our vision to tailor our products according to our customer needs. We took decent time to get insights into the market and bundled a product which addresses all needs Turkish people expect from a tariff: Communication without boundaries in four networks, from Germany to Turkey and the other way around. The cooperation with Türk Telekom is an ideal partnership for us.”

Advantageous rates on a single SIM Card with Türk Telekom Mobile

Türk Telekom Mobile customers will have a single SIM card regardless of whether they are in Turkey or Germany, which will put an end to the necessity of switching SIM cards or to purchase an extra telephone card.

Türk Telekom Mobile customers will be able to call home and business phones in Germany and Turkey, Türk Telekom Mobile, O2 and AVEA numbers for 5 cents per minute. SMS messages to such numbers will also cost 5 cents.

Domestic calls in Germany and other GSM numbers In Turkey placed while in Germany will be charged 15 cents a minute while an SMS will also cost 15 cents. Mobile Internet use will cost 30 cents per megabyte.

Unlimited calls in two separate packages

Türk Telekom Mobile will also offer two unlimited packages for its customers in Germany. The 100 Flat package, which they can use for a monthly fee of 20 euros, provides unlimited calls to home and business phones in Germany and Turkey, Türk Telekom Mobile numbers and AVEA numbers. Furthermore, 100 minutes per month will be free on calls to other GSM numbers in Germany and Turkey as part of the package.

Differently from the 100 Flat package, the 300 Flag package, available for 30 euros per month, will offer 300 free minutes on calls to other GSM numbers in Germany and Turkey.

Calls and SMS messages received by Türk Telekom Mobile users in Turkey will be free of charge. And calls placed to home and business phones in Germany and Turkey as well as all GSM numbers in Turkey and Germany will cost 15 cents a minute. Mobile Internet use will cost 30 cents per megabyte. Türk Telekom Mobile customers will also have Internet access via TTNET WiFi.

Super League games available in Germany

Thanks to the cooperation, exclusive videos of Spor Toto Super League and Bank Asya First Division games will also be available for viewing over mobile phones.
