Turk Telekom’s Basketball Photography Contest is Completed

Putting its signature under social responsibility projects for education, sports, arts-culture, innovation and environment areas, Turkey’s telecommunication leader, Türk Telekom rapidly continues its actions in order to increase the conscience and love for sports. The “Türk Telekom Photo-Journalists Basketball Photography Contest”, which had been initiated by Türk Telekom in cooperation with the Sportswriters’ Association in order to evaluate and award the efforts of the photo-journalists who eternalize the joy of sports and to provide access to these photographs for larger masses, has been finalized.

Halil Ozkan from Yeni Şafak Newspaper has received the championship award. Selcuk Mumcu from Sabah Newspaper has won the second place, while the photograph taken by Hikmet Saatci from Anadolu Ajansi has been deemed worthy of the third place. Ali Unal from Zaman Newspaper has won the Türk Telekom Special Award. Jury’s Special Award has been given to the photographs taken by Mesut Yildirim and Ali Unal from Zaman Newspaper.

128 photographs from 40 photo-journalists have been evaluated
Basketball photographs taken in the 2007-2008 season have competed in the “Türk Telekom Photo-Journalists Basketball Photography Contest”. The jury, which consisted of the Rector of Hacettepe University and a T.N.O.C member Prof. Dr. Uğur Erdener, a member of Gazi University Communication Faculty Associate Prof. Ibrahim Demirel, TSWA Chairman Esat Yılmaer, TSWA Member of the Board of Directors Orhan Ertanhan, TSWA Ankara Branch Chairperson Uğur Tenekecioğlu, Photo-Journalists’ Association Member of the Board of Directors Arif Akdoğan and Türk Telekom Sports Investments Project Director Ersin Eroglu, has evaluated 128 photographs from 40 journalists across Turkey. The photographs which are ranked in the contest and one photograph from each of the 40 photo-journalists will be presented by a ceremony to be held by Türk Telekom. Moreover, these photographs will be presented to the sports fans’ tastes. The photographs will also be published in the web page of Türk Telekom Sports Club.
