Turk Telekom Services for the Disabled

Turk Telekom operates with the principle that all of the society having equal conditions to participate in life with communication facilities. Acting on this principle and with the help of communication technologies, Turk Telekom provides services in order to ease the lives of its disabled customers too. Having disabled employees in offices spread across Turkey, Turk Telekom is realizing various projects not only for its disabled customers but for all the disabled people in the society.

Telephone Library

In collaboration with Bogazici University Technology Laboratory for the Visually Impaired (GETEM), Turk Telekom has implemented the first telephone library in Turkey. With the Telephone Library Project, hundreds of audio books are offered to visually impaired Turk Telekom customers on 0800 219 91 91 free of charge via their home phones. Within the scope of the Telephone Library project, implemented with the collaboration of GETEM and Turk Telekom, visually impaired Turk Telekom customers can listen to hundreds of books in the GETEM library for free.

Visually impaired Turk Telekom customers have access to hundreds of books free of charge with the passwords they get after subscribing to GETEM. The users of Telephone Library Project, which can be used only over home phones, have the options to choose the book they wish, resume from where they left on the next call and go back and forth between the chapters.

Siirt Turk Telekom Primary School and Business School

In Siirt Turk Telekom Primary School and Business School, one of the 76 education buildings brought into education within the scope of one of the largest social responsibility project in Turkey in the field of education, Turk Telekom Schools project, disabled students are integrated in to the society by developing their basic life skills. At the Siirt Turk Telekom Primary School and Business School, there are 40 classrooms that provide education services for the pre-school unit, autistic disabled, hearing impaired, visually handicapped, educable and trainable mentally handicapped, a gymnasium, a physiotherapy department and multi-purpose halls.

 

 

Telephone Bill with Braille Alphabet for the Visually Impaired

The first telecommunications company in Turkey to implement telephone bill for the visually impaired, Turk Telekom is sending out special bills with braille alphabet to customers that apply for one.

Voice Billing for the Visually Impaired
Thanks to Turk Telekom vocal billing information service 163 for the use of visually impaired customers, they are able to learn the amount of their bill and the date of last payment.

Subscription Agreement with Braille Alphabet for the Blind
Turk Telekom is inviting its visually impaired customers to make use of communications services with the subscription agreement prepared with braille alphabet that frees them of having to bring a representative when applying for a subscription.

Wheelchair Accessible Pay Phones
In order to ease the lives of its disabled customers in Turkey, Turk Telekom is putting in pay phones that are easily accessible by the customers in a wheelchair. The pay phones in 210 points in 37 provinces, are being installed at a height that is convenient for its customers with wheelchairs. The pay phones are mostly installed at heavy traffic areas like airports, hospitals and bus terminals.

Discount Tariff for Disabled Customers
With the “Social Tariff”, Turk Telekom is offering a special 3000 minute free use for local land lines package for 12,5 TL to its customers who can document their 40% or over disability condition. Implementing a special campaign for its new subscribers who choose the Social Tariff, Turk Telekom offers the use of the same package for 9,90 TL for 24 months.

Discount Internet for Disabled Customers
Turk Telekom is offering the internet service to internet service providers for 25% discount by wholesale for the disabled customers who can document their 40% or over disability condition. Every internet service provider is determining the retail price for their customers themselves.
